Message from Riverside National Guardsman John Bischler. Our National Guardsmen were treated poorly by Rep. Takano and his staff. Takano has not helped our veterans he has been elected to serve. Bischler Supports Shepherd for Congress. #PaythemBack #Elections2016
I have been running to serve my community for the past 12 months. I have been running to serve Riverside County as your Congressman. This is no easy feat. It is and continues to be a tough journey. What makes it tougher is that no media is covering the 41st District election cycle.
- The Inland Counties have a higher unemployment rate than the State of Alaska, which has the highest unemployment rate in the nation.
- The local congressman has voted against jobs by voting against small business, which is any local business with less than 500 employees.
- Mark Takano voted against Veterans Administration improvements because he is supported by the labor unions and was voting to support the VA employees, not the U.S. veterans.
- Mark Takano cannot work across the aisle to achieve success.
- Local entities do not call Mark Takano when they want something done.
- Mark Takano has not achieved one idea in four years in office.
- He has been voted one of the nation least effective members of Congress and we continue to pay him.
- Mark Takano crafted a facade piece of legislation to create an image that he is working for our veterans.
- Mark Takano says he knew nothing of the California National Guard issues, yet he sits on the Veterans Administration Committee.
But you don’t know these things because our local media has not covered any of these issues. Riverside County, you should be angry. However, instead, we are naive because there is no media attention on the issues that matter.
In fact, there is so little attention to the people of Riverside County, that Mr. Takano is currently in Nevada phone banking for the Democratic Party.
I am a small business owner and I am vested in this community with employees, corporate partners and long-term customers, who have bought their homes here is Riverside County. I believe in lowering taxes on our local families, family owned businesses and other small businesses. I believe this election is about our economy because our local unemployment rate is still too high. My mission is to create a Congressional Office in the 41st District that will help individuals with complete constituent services from all federal agencies.
I’m about Riverside County and the inland region. Mark Takano is about himself. All of these issues matter.
Finally, know this, Mark Takano has out fundraised me by 10 to 1. Yet, Mark Takano has raised 90% of his campaign funds from outside of Riverside County. That’s why it is so difficult to kick out a do-nothing incumbent. It is why you don’t see change.
The question is why isn’t anyone talking about it.

Doug Shepherd, candidate for Riverside County’s 41st Congressional District, proudly announces the endorsement from the distinguished Col. Paul Cook (Ret.), Congressman.
“As our national economy continues to stagnate, it’s imperative that Americans send true leaders to Congress. I support Doug Shepherd because he is an experienced businessman who is committed to creating jobs for our region. Doug is approachable and willing to work across the aisle to get the job done for his district,” said Congressman Cook.
Shepherd, a local businessman and realtor, began his career as managing partner of Veteran Housing Center in Riverside. Since then, he continues to help veterans achieve homeownership as one his primary passions. He continues to serve the Veteran Housing Center through the Inland Valley Association of Realtors, which has help hundreds of veterans of Riverside County.
“Supporting veterans and working with so many men and women over the years, I genuinely appreciate the endorsement from such a leader in our region. Personally and professionally, receiving support from Col. Cook is significant to me,” said Shepherd.
Our hearts and trust have been with the firefighters all week. Now, as we are learning more about the number of homes lost and the number of families and friends impacted, our team at Shepherd for Congress include them in our thoughts and prayers.
Doug Shepherd proudly announces the endorsement from Congressman Ken Calvert for his bid for the Riverside County 41st Congressional District. Calvert, Congressman from Corona, has represented much of the areas now in the 41st District.Calvert, who knows the area well said, “Shepherd is an experienced businessman, community volunteer and advocate for homeownership for our veterans. I know Shepherd’s focus to bring jobs to the inland region will help everyone.”
“I’m grateful for the support. I hold this endorsement in high regard because Calvert is someone I have long respected. He, too, has been in business all his life and we share an understanding of how to grow jobs,” said Shepherd.Shepherd started his first business at age 25 and measures success by the number of people you can help along the way.“Through this process, I gained another reason to respect Calvert. He told me months ago that he would not endorse before the primary out of his respect for all the Republicans in the race. Now that the voters have spoken his backing is all the more rewarding,” said Shepherd.
The Lincoln Club of Riverside County Endorses Doug Shepherd for U.S. Congressional Seat.Riverside, CA
Doug Shepherd, Congressional Candidate for the 41st Congressional. District of California, received the official endorsement from the Lincoln Club of Riverside County. The Lincoln Club, founded in 1988, has a highly effective and influential group of Republican leaders, who work to support candidates and get out the vote efforts. They fundraise for legislators and legislative candidates to support sound legislative policy and programs at both the state and federal level.
“We have an important role this year. We need to unify against candidates who will say one thing to get your vote, while supporting legislation that hurts Riverside County businesses and families. I am grateful to the Lincoln Club for their support, so that we can do just that. The Lincoln Club is a group of leaders I have respected for many years. Their support means a tremendous amount to me. And, I hope my fellow Republican primary candidates, each sound in their campaign, will join us and the Lincoln Club to secure a win in November,” said Shepherd.
After listening tonight to Donald Trump’s acceptance speech, I can honestly say I was most impressed with the scale of depth on issues that he brought before the American public. He covered so many of the topics we are facing daily. He reached out to minority groups and he reminded them that the Democrats have left them behind. It’s a new day in the Republican Party and Mr. Trump laid out the welcome mat to the undecided voter, youth and minorities. I hope they join the movement. He will be tough on crime and tough on international policies that put any of us at risk. At the end of the day, the Republican Convention was a complete success as it outlined the failed programs under the Obama-Clinton administration and why we need new leadership.
I, like all of you, have been watching as much of the convention as I can. Yesterday, I was taken by the topic and saddened by the issues on our time. The conversation has not been about money, housing prices nor about jobs; Nor, has it bored you with meaningless political rhetoric. This year has been about safety, public safety. Now, there is a topic where Republicans have always owned the lead. When discussing international relations, national crime trends, and local problems, Republicans have always supported tougher policy, longer sentencing and more policing. This year is crucial to vote. Republicans should be more motivated then ever to vote. This presidential election is about our safety. Please VOTE.
Doug Shepherd, Congressional Candidate for the 41st Congressional District of California, issued the following statement July 15, 2016.
“Sadness and astonishment once again fills our hearts for the people and families of France following the events in Nice. Our prayers and thoughts are with all of the injured, those killed and their families.
This event of terror is cruel and deplorable. On a day recognizing freedom, where families and friends gather with children and community, people who were filled with hope in the future were attacked by an individual, who supported organizations that condemn our world’s freedom. We must do more to root out the cruel and dangerous ideologies that seek to tie down our freedoms.
It is our hope in the days that follow prayers and support for the families impacted will continue. But, also that our leaders take their responsibilities more seriously and take aggressive action to eliminate further threats. Our nation must join with other world leaders and take measurable steps to root out the evil of an ideology, not a religion, with action and immediacy.
